Intro to Open Water Swimming Clinics
These three-hour clinics will prepare you to swim comfortably in open water. We will teach you everything you need to know: relaxation skills, how to overcome the cold, tides, and sighting skills. The program includes a one-hour talk / Q&A, a 60-minute swim (with lots of resting), and a short debrief (more Q&A) after the swim.
If you are interested in trying open water swimming for the first time, have had a bad open water swimming experience in the past, are apprehensive about the cold water, or want to know more about what swimming in a natural environment feels like, this intro clinic is perfect for you. Please note this is not a technique clinic. This class is intended for people brand new to open water or who have tried open water swimming and struggled with it or hated it. Swimmer to coach ratio will not exceed 5:1. We require pre-registration; registration closes 24 hours before the clinic. Sign up information follows below.
Requirements for Participation: We require that you are able to cover 50 yards (two lengths) of the pool, doing the crawl stroke, without stopping.
